How it Ended
As of yesterday evening I’ve officially finished and created the last build of my first video game project called “Radiorum”. A little post-apo platformer concept / demo made in Unity. Over the last ~month and a half of crunch I’ve learned quite a lot about the Unity game engine and the process of game development overall (especially within a team), I feel like it was a great introduction to my upcoming project for the ZTGK contest called Demersus .
Turmoil
I don’t want to get in to it too much as that’s not the point, but having a quite unsupportive and unproductive team wasn’t something that made the entire process any easier, out of the 6 people in the team 2-3 were actually grinding away when most were just sitting back, not really contributing much or even worse, stalling development and giving back just low effort, low quality stuff (in some cases with attitude as well). Which is what lead me to make my mind up and split from them so that I can work on my next project ( Demersus ) in peace with my [bud][1].
The End
Finally finishing the project was a bitter sweet moment if I’m being honest, at first there was a rush of happiness and relief that it was done on time (actually a few days earlier) and that we didn’t really have any big issues to solve - everything just kind of worked but then…
After a few hours have passed I got hit with quite big dose of sadness, just feeling emptiness / hollowness. This project took a bit to build, a bunch of sleepless nights, a bunch of stress and a sprinkle of crunch on top of it. It felt like I lost something.
Play Radiorum for free!
For a multitude of reasons the concept / demo was not released on any platform, as of now,
the only available build is 1.0.1 for Windows (which is an unsigned .exe BTW). If
you’re brave enough I urge you to try the game out for yourself ;)
